Happy New Year And Wellness To All!

Hello, Sisters and Brothers in Wellness.

Thank you for checking in.

I’ve had a shocking start to my family vacation and it has definitely shaped my thinking about what really matters. This is often the result of an “ah-ha moment!” You get a big knock on the head, which we usually call a Wake Up Call, and then we move forward with renewed energy, vowing to be more than we ever thought we were.

On my way to a ski trip in Sutton, Quebec, a heavy snow hit us. Driving conditions were perilous. The roads were snow covered and icy.

Keeping as calm as possible, we crawled out of the car and ran far out of danger.  Good Samaritans came out of their homes, even in the cold and snow, and helped us as the ordeal continued.  It was a long and grueling night, dealing with fire personnel, police, hydro staff and Emergency Responders. Everyone went to work. One Good Samaritan offered his home to us so we could stay warm and settle down. My nephews were escorted out of the danger zone, into the arms of their mother, who was several kilometres down the road. My brother and I had several difficult hours ahead of us.

Normally, I would have lost my composure and not handled things well at all. But something else happened. I remained calm, acted with composure and ensured everyone’s safety. My first reaction wasn’t anger. It was thankfulness. I was grateful, as I surveyed the scene in front of me, that we were all alive, unharmed and in one piece. A car is replaceable. People are not.

I credit my calm reactions to the wellness work I have been doing. Wellness is not simply the absence of disease. It is the presence of robust nutritional, physical and emotional/social/mental strength. I Eat Clean®, train hard and have added the practices of gratituding, journalling and meditation.  After a chapter of my life that can only be described as filled with loss, I had to find better ways to survive and thrive. Giving thanks is a powerful way to push your energy up into a higher level.  When you can do that, you don’t dwell on the negative. The more you can stay positive, the more positive things will come to you.

The old me would have had no idea how to behave in a crisis.

I am certain my training has helped me overcome what has happened.

I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year.  Each moment is to be celebrated. Give yourself completely to your wellness journey.

Please also remember to be kind to yourself.  Wherever you are right now, in your eating and training, is where you are.  Fitness and wellness are usually not fixed points but moving targets that often change depending on what is happening in our lives.  It is easy to get off track, but the good news is, it is equally easy to get back on track, too.

Please enjoy my site, and know it is filled with my love and desire to help you feel and look wonderful.

Sincerely and with Clean Eating® love,
