Your Doctor Can’t Cure You!

Engage in your own wellness!

Doctors perform the role of promoting and managing our wellness, keeping us disease free and mentally sound.  They can perform miracles like delivering a child into the world or repairing damaged bodies.  They can introduce vaccines into our immune system to protect us from deadly diseases.  They can help us deal with life’s emotional challenges through counselling.  They can do all of this and more, but not without your help.

I recently went for my physical.  For many of you, that most essential of health care habits is a dreaded event.  You are weighed, measured, scrutinized, have your lady bits inspected, are poked and prodded and then you must try to aim your pee into a very small cup, which is hard to see because your bits don’t include a hose.

I happen to love my doctor.  She is a no-nonsense, intelligent woman who has been my physician for 20 years.  She was my support when I came to her with evidence of physical abuse from my first marriage.  She cared for me as I launched myself through the various phases of physique contests.  She counselled me through the grief of losing two of the dearest men in my life.  She has been looking after my entire family for years. Even my newborn granddaughter is one of her patients.  Did I mention I love my doctor?

During this year’s visit, I answered the usual roster of questions but I got a unique opportunity to hear the other side too.  I hadn’t given much thought to what a physician goes through but it turns out, her perspective on caring for a busy practice, has shed enormous light on the task I have set for myself – helping you achieve optimal wellness through Eating Clean®.

My doctor is a caring, empathic woman.  As a healer, she can prescribe and provide counsel but that’s it.  Her frustration peaks when her patients think the prescription will fix whatever is wrong and do nothing to engage in their own wellness.  Most don’t, you see.

Most of us struggle with one, some or all, of these situations:

  • Libido – Few of us are having sex or even enjoying it.
  • Anxiety – The modern day condition is destroying our health.
  • Overweight – Where can I possibly begin?
  • Menopause – Most of us will gain an average of 5 – 10 pounds or more when they hit menopause.
  • Brain fog – Clouded by sugar and processed foods, the brain just doesn’t want to engage.

I go to my doctor for guidance and empowerment but I don’t have the expectation that she will do the fixing for me.   This is where Self Care is the New Health Care and where I can step in with my books and programs to help you get closer to optimal wellness.  Using any of my online programs offered at www.toscareno.com, or through my Membership programs, also offered at www.toscareno.com, or by taking courses through canfitpro, or just pick up any one of my books and you will find answers to many of your wellness questions. You will even find the way to get there, using the simplest of steps.

Work together with your doctor.  Surprise her with your eagerness to feel good again.  Empower yourself with knowledge.  It’s time!

Remember, I am always listening!
