End Of Month Reflection: June Adventures

June 30, 2017

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Wellness.

Thank you for spending some of your precious time with me.

At times the events of a month are so diverse and numerous, it feels right to create categories so that I may share them better with you.  This month happens to one of those.

Ready?

Food Adventures:

I tasted grass-fed water buffalo milk for the first time and I liked it!  It is higher in fat but that didn’t stop me from drinking it because I wanted the benefit of the high protein content of this milk that is the staple of many Asian diets.  Loaded with vitamins and minerals, this delicious milk is going to be in my fridge regularly.

I’ve been eating flowers. Chive blossoms with their purple and peppery taste, along with nasturtiums, are too gorgeous and nutritious to ignore.  I pop them into all my salads and watch peoples’ faces as I serve the floral beauty up. Go on! Take a bite! They are quite yummy.

I make kefir every day.  The grains I have are over 3000 years old and make a fabulous base for chia pudding and smoothies.  Not to mention, the friendly bacteria in kefir make my gut a happy place.

Body Adventures:

I visited an osteopath.  What’s that? An osteopath is a body worker that focuses specifically on the joints, muscles and spine, with a goal of treating the body’s nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. I wentbecause I was having some issues with my shoulders as a result of bodybuilding. The treatment was amazing but I was warned I might feel nauseous and exhausted for a few days afterwards thanks to the release.  Yep! I was. Both.  A quick stop on the side of the road and I was all better.

Then I got stripped.  Worried I’ve changed careers? Don’t be.  This is a deep tissue massage technique in which long, slow, deep (painfully deep), gliding pressure is applied to the length of the muscle with a focus on releasing and elongating tight muscles and fascia.  It’s a very different massage technique but let’s just say, I glided off the table and headed for a long nap afterwards.  Ooh! I felt good!

Career Adventures:

I don’t normally talk about my career much but I thought since this month was so chock-a-block, I would share a few details.

I am learning to negotiate contracts and it’s hard work but I discovered something.  You have to know your business well and a contract is not a contract if you don’t share your needs with your client.  I am proud of myself for going off script and doing just that.  It was a “did you know?” situation, that I felt should be known.  Contracts signed!

I took on an assistant.  Full stop. I did.  I have resisted in the past but I am in need because of above mentioned contracts.  My goal is to serve you to my highest and best.  In order to do that, I had to admit, I needed help.

Also I am working with someone credentialed in the writing field to help me unblock myself.  I have been trying to write the book – you know the one about the so-called “Dark Period” I’ve just gone through, but kept getting stuck. Nobody wants to read a book listing numerous disasters.  I didn’t know what to do but a long conversation in a small town coffee shop got me sorted.  Let’s just say, stuck no more.  Phew!

House Adventures:

Record rains in Ontario and a failed sump pump add up to S+!t! It has been raining endlessly in the GTA causing a lot of people’s homes to be flooded, mine included.  When the sump pump fails on top of that, you get a mess.  A big one.  I spent hours in my rubber boots mopping up water. And just as soon as I was done it rained again.  Now my gym is flooded.  Guess I can apply for a job on cleanup crew.  I’m a talented mopper!

On top of that I had to face my claustrophobia head on when I needed to crawl under the pool house to turn on the water.  That’s under the pool house.  A place frequented by NO ONE! But that’s where the water valve was and that’s where I went. I wanted to puke. It was bad. Bad.  Bad. But I did it and only needed a very small glass of wine to celebrate! Cheers!

On to the pool shed, where I then needed to clear out the evidence of squirrels who apparently thought my shed was an Air B and B over the winter! Ugh! There was so much crap in there I needed a snow shovel to move it.  Looks like someone forgot to close the door!

June has been a rather trying month.  But I am not one to complain.  Every day that I show up is another gift. I am grateful for each one I get.  Even the ugly jobs are part of living.  I’m enjoying the opportunity to be fully alive.

Now I’m heading off to a beautiful sauna session where I can bliss out for a bit.  With cedar and patchouli oil mixed in the water, this is going to be epic.

Have a fabulous month, this one, the next and every one after.  Remember, time is the most precious resource you have. Once you’ve spent it, you can’t get it back.

Love and hugs,

Tosca
